The following questionnaire is being sent to Hungarians to ask their opinion on the coronavirus and the restarting of the economy.
In the first half of 2020, the coronavirus epidemic faced countries around the world with an unprecedented challenge. We, Hungarians, joined forces, made decisions in time and managed to stop the epidemic. Doctors and epidemiological experts, however, warned that the preparedness should be maintained, as a second wave of the coronavirus epidemic could occur in Hungary. Experts agree that the most efficient measures against the epidemic are the ones with large social support. This is why your opinion is especially important to us.
1. Which of the following measures would you support in case of a second wave of the epidemic? You may select multiple answers.
Movement restrictions
Social distancing
Obligatory mask-wearing
Closing of borders
Closing of educational facilities and conversion to digital education
Limitation of events
Separate time window for shopping for those over 65
Ban on the export of equipment necessary for the defense against the epidemic
Free parking
2. The coronavirus epidemic has brought about the collapse of healthcare systems around the world. In Hungary, we managed to slow down the spread of the epidemic, winning time to prepare our healthcare system. The threat of a next wave of the epidemic, however, remains imminent.
Do you agree that the epidemiological preparedness should be maintained as long as the threat of the epidemic’s return is present?
Yes No
3. During the epidemic, elderly homes were the most prone to the spread of the infection. One in every four victims of the epidemic was a resident in an elderly home. Hundreds have been infected in the Pesti út elderly home, and many elderly people have passed away.
Do you think that we should further strengthen the epidemiological protection of elderly homes?
Yes No
4. The epidemic has brought about a shortage of medical and protective equipment around the world. Hungary successfully procured equipment from abroad and started domestic production as well.
Do you agree that the government should strive to produce the necessary equipment in Hungary and thus reduce our dependence on outside suppliers?
Yes No
5. Because of the epidemic, we had to convert to a digital school curriculum overnight. This measure served the purpose of ensuring the safety of students without suspending the academic year. All of this required a massive effort from teachers, students and parents. We thank everyone for the successful conversion.
Do you agree that, during an epidemic, internet access should be free for teachers and families with school children?
Yes No
6. At the outbreak of the epidemic, Brussels’ epidemiological agency, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), did not detect any imminent danger. Even on the day of the first death in Europe, the EU agency classified the risk of viral infection as “moderate.” Nevertheless, competent Hungarian authorities began preparations for its defense. The Operational Group was set up on January 31, 2020, before any infection had even been registered in Europe.
Do you think that a permanent Hungarian epidemiological monitoring service should be established for the timely detection of an epidemic and to start preparations for a defense in time, thus reducing our dependence on outside opinions?
Yes No
7. The protection of the Hungarian people’s health and security is of utmost importance. Hence, the government decided that there should be no financial obstacle to the defense against the epidemic and everyone should contribute to sharing the burden.
Do you think that, during the defense against an epidemic, banks and multinational companies should also contribute to the cost of the defense?
Yes No
8. The coronavirus epidemic had a grave impact on all economies around the world. While an economic setback is expected in Hungary, its extent will be smaller than in Western Europe. Some believe that in order to help the Hungarian economy get back on its feet, the purchase of Hungarian products and services should be encouraged and Hungarian tourism should be promoted.
Do you agree that the purchase of domestic products and services should be encouraged and domestic tourism should be promoted?
Yes No
9. The pandemic not only puts our health in jeopardy, it also threatens our jobs. This is why the government decided that it will create as many jobs as the virus destroys. Investment subsidies, training programs and tax reductions all serve to protect jobs.
Do you think that the government should maintain the job protection and job creation programs even after the epidemic is over?
Yes No
10. George Soros has come up with a new plan to handle the economic crisis that will follow the coronavirus epidemic. In it, he proposes that EU member states take up gigantic loans (perpetual bonds), on which we would have to pay interest for generations to come, perpetually. According to experts, this would force nations into bonded labor.
Do you reject George Soros’s plan, which would put our homeland in debt for an unforeseeably long period of time?
Yes No
11. Many companies are close to bankruptcy as a result of the economic crisis due to the epidemic. There is a risk that international financial speculators might exploit this situation to acquire strategic Hungarian companies.
What do you think? Should Hungary protect Hungarian companies against hostile foreign acquisition?
Yes No
12. According to a European Court of Justice ruling, it is illegal to have immigrants wait in the transit zone on the Hungarian border. The decision found that migrants should be allowed entry into our country during the epidemic. This ruling coincides with George Soros’s old plan on migration, which proposed that one million immigrants must be allowed entry annually and at any cost.
Do you agree that the government should continue to stand up against immigration and maintain strict protection of Hungary’s borders?
Yes No
13. Brussels is preparing an offensive against the immigration-related regulations of the Hungarian constitution. They want to force us to amend the Fundamental Law’s articles that prevent migration.
Do you agree that the Hungarian government must insist on its anti-immigration rules even at the price of an open conflict with Brussels?
Yes No
