According to a fresh poll published by the Nézőpont research institute, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s approval rating reached a five-year high this month.
In the poll conducted between July 14-16, 57 percent of respondents said they would like to see PM Orbán in a leading political role in the future. Only one-third of respondents were dissatisfied with PM Orbán’s performance, the lowest ratio since October 2015.
Nézőpont added that the approval rating of Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, has gone up by 14 percentage points, while Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó’s popularity is up 10 points since December last year. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Mihály Varga’s approval rating is up by 9 points, attributing the rise to the government’s COVID-19 response measures.
