Poland ranks second among the countries with the lowest unemployment rate among all European Union countries (in December 2023 it was 2.7 percent). The Czech Republic is in third place with a result of 2.8 percent. According to Eurostat, both countries are also among the countries with the lowest youth unemployment.

Poland's seasonally adjusted unemployment fell to 2.7 percent in Poland in December 2023 from 2.8 percent a month earlier (the number of registered unemployed in December decreased to 476,000 from 479,000 in November).

According to the latest Eurostat statistics, the unemployment rate in Hungary was 4.2 percent in December 2023. In the Central European region, the highest unemployment rate was recorded in Slovakia (5.8 percent).

According to the Eurostat agency Malta boasted the lowest jobless rate in the 27-nation European Union, at 2.4 percent. The average unemployment rate for the entire European Union was 5.9 percent at the end of last year. The euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4% in December, stable compared with November.

Spain has the highest unemployment rate at 11.7 percent, followed at some distance by Greece (9.2 percent), Sweden (8 percent) and Finland (7.4 percent).
