"Unplanned" moves the consciences of Poles
Kultura

Is Poland doing well in terms of protecting children's lives?

Meeting people abroad who are engaged in activities for the protection of human dignity from the moment of conception, in numerous occasions I have heard opinions that the situation concerning the protection of life in Poland is very good and even enviable. Compared to the number of abortions in Western Europe, Russia, the USA and Canada, Polish statistics showing about 1 000 legal abortions per year may indeed make it seem like a marginal problem. Knowing the realities of our country, especially the growing scale of eugenic abortions and the persistence of the so-called 'compromise', allowing abortion in three cases: suspected illness of the child, a prohibited act and a threat to the health or life of the mother, as well as the lack of proper prosecution of abortion crimes, one can argue with such opinions. After all, every abortion means the murder of a human being.

"Unplanned" or a who woman discovers the truth about Planned Parendhood.

As Abby Johnson, the protagonist of „Unplanned” says, the death industry is based on lies. She also believed for years that abortion wasn't human murder.  She started working at Planned Parendhood as a volunteer because she believed she could help women in this way. Her commitment and professionalism, which resulted in higher revenues for the abortion business, was appreciated. Not only did she get have job there, but she was promoted to the head of an abortion clinic. She signed consents for 22 thousand abortions. Her two children were also killed in an abortion.

Everything changed the day she was asked to assist with an ultrasound abortion. She saw how a 13-week-old child fights for her life defending herself against the abortion tools already introduced into her mother's womb. Abby, shocked by the sight, realized that she was involved in the murder of a human being. She decided to break up with the death industry. This decision changed everything in her life! She quit a well-paid job and went to her recent "enemies" from "Coalition for Life", i.e. people who prayed at her clinic and supported mothers considering abortion. She told them about her awakened conscience and her decision to leave the abortion industry. She received support from them. As she says, it was love that led her out of the abortion clinic. She was led by God who moved her conscience and opened her mind to the truth about a human in the mother's womb.

The world has discovered her story

Abby's story could have remained anonymous. She herself says it was a former employer, Planned Parendhood, who, with attacks on her, encouraged her to write a book about her story. An attempt was made to gag Abby using a lawsuit. The book was the basis for the film "Unplanned". (2019) dir. C. Solomon and Ch. Konzelman. Its success in the USA exceeded the expectations of many film industry experts. In less than 20 weeks the film earned $19 million, and hundreds of thousands of copies of the film on DVD were sold on Amazon.

Thanks to the fact that the world has learned this story, amazing things are happening. On the Internet you can find testimonies of people who changed their approach to abortion under the influence of the film and even saved their children from it.

The words of the lead actress, Ashley Bratcher, are striking. She said: "I almost became a victim of an abortion. I might not have been on this earth. People are immersed in the lie that abortion is just the removal of a cluster of cells. But it is not so. Every abortion victim has a face. It turned out that after taking part in the film, Ashley was talking to her mother. She knew that her siblings had been killed in an abortion, but the hardest message she had received was from her mother during the conversation. When my mother was 19 years and pregnant with Ashley, she went to an abortion clinic. And at the last moment she gave up killing her. You can't imagine a more suitable person to play the lead in a movie about Abby.

Poles flock to watch "The Unplanned" in large numbers!

Despite the success of the film in the USA, Polish cinemas probably underestimated its potential and it was not known for a long time whether the biggest networks would screen "Unplanned". When it happened, the auditoriums were literally packed full. A few days after the Polish premiere, it was already obvious that it turned out to be a great attendance and financial success. After the premiere weekend the film was first in Poland in terms of the number of viewers per the screening and in fourth place in terms of the total number of viewers. It amounted to 52 thousand.

               The left "boycotts".

The film not only delighted the crowds, but also aroused anger among the communities fighting for the possibility of killing unborn children on demand. The circles associated with "Gazeta Wyborcza" and the Polish propaganda dimension of Planned Parendhood organized a boycott of the film. A series of untrue texts on the history of Abby Johnson appeared. The slogans used by Planned Parendhood to convince its employees and customers to participate in the abortion industry are repeated as a mantra. These include the lie that a human before birth is just a cluster of cells, and an abortion, to quote its supporters, "is less dangerous than pulling a tooth out". However, the left should be warmly thanked for the action of the boycott. There is no doubt that thanks to it, more people heard about the film and went to the cinemas.

               Law, media, culture

The film "Unplanned" is a perfect example of the transmission of values through culture. In addition to the law and the media that convey values or contradict them, it is film culture that shapes people's thinking to the greatest extent today. Many impulses are needed to change society, which will move hearts, emotions and give energy to act for good. "Unplanned" is a film that motivates because it shows the truth about people. Nothing has such an effect on people as a real life example. Abby Johnson is credible and that's the power of her message.
